To make a successful business, you don’t need things that most people think you do. Things such as having a masters degree, high status previous job roles or even a high level of education.

These are simply not required. Its all about how badly you want it, and going all out to get it. Being passionate about what you do, having the motivation and dedication, and working hard at it will see you succeed.

Me, like many people was not the greatest pupil at school. I didn’t particularly like school and i was always just an average student. I didn’t really know what i wanted to do with my life thinking about it in high school.

That was until i found people were making a living from the internet and making money online. By the time i left high school i had tried out a few things and i was already earning money online. Sure it was very little, but it was a start.

At that point i knew it was what i wanted to do for the rest of my life.

However, your story might be different. In education the main priority is to teach everyone the same old process. Getting trained up for school. Then get a bit more complicated and technical in college, get a 9 to 5 job and work for the rest of your life making someone else rich.

If you do a little research, a lot of the successful millionaires and billionaires left or dropped out of school and college and taught themselves what actually matters and whats important.

They taught themselves how to break out of that process of thinking like everyone else, and instead of learning how to make someone else rich, they focus on how to make themselves rich.

What Planning Is Needed To Make A Successful Business?

To help you make a successful business, here is a list of 9 crucial points you NEED to know.

1. When outlining your plan, you must underestimate what you’ll earn and overestimate what you’ll spend. 

Very important and will give you numbers and data to process. Just so you have something to work with but not necessarily means you will accept these figures. Use this to plan how much time and effort you need to put into marketing and sales.

2. Make sure you present people with something they want to buy, not just what you want to sell.

More often than not, people wanting to make a successful business try and sell a service or product that they THINK people want. Not what is already out there, proven to be successful and selling like hot cakes.

3. Be on the lookout for new and more effective ways of keeping costs low.

Its great that your business is generating some cash flow. But the cash flow should always be more return than expense. So you need to keep the costs at the minimum.

Never pay for full retail prices. This goes for anything your business needs, including office equipment and and business requirements.

4. Have a ‘learn more’, ‘earn more’ attitude.

Running a successful business isnt as easy as 1, 2, 3. You first need to know how to start one. How to start an online business for instance needs some basic requirements first.

However, many people learn how to run one as they go. Can be very risky but if it builds into a nice multi million dollar business then it was worth it. But they would have put in the effort and long hours into learning as much marketing, sales and business operations to becoming successful.

It all pays off eventually and then there’s no stopping you. You will be able to use what you have learned and put it into anything.

5. Work on marketing and getting sales first.

Many businesses tend to focus on getting their brand perfect first. Even before getting leads. If you work this way your wont be around for long, spending thousands on getting a brand right before getting any customers will see your business fall. To make a successful business you need to generate leads first and build up your brand.

6. Gather, test and analyse everything.

Making sure you track everything you do and using that information to improve your strategy is invaluable for making a successful business. Being able to see whats working and what isn’t, you can see what you need to change or leave as it is.

For example why keep spending hundreds or even thousands on an ad campaign that isn’t bringing in any customers or not a high enough return over investment?

7. Always be on the lookout for methods to increase profits.

If you’re not constantly finding ways to expand your profits you will not see your business grow and earn more revenue.

Being able to get more leads and converting them into paying customers will see a increase in profit. Strategies that keep your customers coming back for more and spreading the word will see your business become successful.

Doing these whilst keeping your costs to a minimum will see more increased profits.

8. Get a mentor/coach.

Bringing in someone with all the knowledge and expertise will have the know how to make a successful business. They can guide you and give you important advice on planning and business operations.

We almost always think we know all the answers to everything when running a business. But having another well experienced individual there will help and makes sure you are getting the figures you should be getting.

9. Build an email list.

Many smart successful business owners will build a list of customer emails. It provides a means to communicate to all your customers and generate more leads and sales by getting them to come back.

You will be able to use it for marketing strategies and get some valuable data to see whats working and what can be improved by the response it gets.
